4G Home Learning 25.1.21

Hello everyone,

I hope you have all had a well rested weekend. It was so lovely to touch base with you all last week. Myself and Mrs Davidson really enjoyed speaking to all of the children and seeing how well you are all getting along! Let’s see how many DOJO points we can all get this week!

Here is the home learning for Monday 25th January

Joe Wicks ‘wake up’

Joe Wicks is continuing another week of PE with Joe. They will be every Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9:00-9:20am. A great way to start the day before a day of home learning and keep moving.

On the following days please log on to YouTube and search ‘PE with Joe’, it will be live from 9:00am on the days above.

As it is Monday today’s home learning is to complete our weekly spelling test in test conditions. As it is the second week of spellings please muddle up the order of the spellings. I trust that you have been busy practising the spellings set last Wednesday. Please forward a message or an email with your score for our class records.

The second part of English is to use and apply your weekly spellings. I would like you to spend 20 minutes after completing your spelling test applying your spellings to make your own sentences. Please make sure that you underline the spelling in each sentence. The aim of this exercise is to apply spellings in context and consolidate the spelling pattern learnt.

Spelling task

We are continuing with our unit on fractions this week. The focus of today’s lesson is to add fractions with the same denominator. To help you I have attached a video below which models and explains the theory behind adding simple fractions and demonstrates working out.

Year 4 – Week 6 – Lesson 1 – Add 2 or more fractions on Vimeo

Once you have watched the video and have familiarised yourself with the process I would like you to complete the first task below. All children are to complete this starter task.

Starter task

Once you have completed this first task please check on DOJO which worksheet below has been assigned to you. There are two differing tasks today so please check before printing/completing.

Independent reading:

Please again continue this week with reading as much as you can at home. It can be a non-fiction, poetry or fiction book. Try and get your child reading for at least 20 minutes a day if you can. This can be at any time of the day.

 Times Table Rockstars:

We will be continuing with times table rockstars every day again to consolidate and secure those all-important times table skills. This week we are going to be consolidating our 9 times tables. Please use the link below to watch the 9 times table as practise.

Worksheet 1

We are continuing with our second lesson on RE, Gospel.  Gospel’, which means ‘good news’, and tells the story of the life and teaching of Jesus.

Today we are looking at the biblical text Jesus healing a leper (Mark 1:40–44). I would like you to read this biblical extract attached below.

Jesus healing a leper (Mark 1:40–44)

Task 1:

Once you have read this extract I would like you to jot down why we don’t come go to school when ill. You can record this in bullet points or as a mind map.

For example, we need to rest to get better and we don’t want to infect others.

Task 2:

Would you want to be near, or touch, someone who was infectious like Jesus was? Why do you think Jesus touched and healed the leper? (Showing love to all).

Jot down your answers – again this can be recorded in bullet points of as a mind map.

Task 3:

Use the website link below to find our more about what leprosy is. Explore the charity website for yourself.

The Leprosy Mission

Final message – Jesus taught his followers not to judge people by what they looked like or what others thought of them. Everyone, even outcasts, sinners and those in need were important to him. Everyone is important.

Take care,

Mrs Wallis and Mrs Davidson
