6G Home Learning 21.1.21

Hi everyone,

Here is today’s learning:

Collective Worship

On Monday it was Martin Luther King Day – Please read the PowerPoint and watch the video of his famous speech. AT the end of the PowerPoint, there are some important questions for you to think about and answer in the text on Class Dojo:

PE:

Here is something for you to try for today’s daily exercise: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9WgkiB-GQMI

English:

Using your work from yesterday about complex sentences and your diary work, can you try to write a diary entry (or two)  in the character of Maia from Journey to the River Sea. You could choose any event from the story that we have read so far:

This could be when she found out she was leaving; when she first met Miss Minton; when she was on the Cardinal and everyone was suffering with seasickness; when she met Clovis; when she arrived at the Amazon etc.

When writing a diary, remember it is the thoughts and feelings of the character that are most important, whilst describing the events that have happened. Remember the features that were discussed in yesterday’s lesson.

I have uploaded a model diary entry to help you: 20th October 1910 Maia’s Diary

Maths:

Today we are continuing our work on decimals:

RE:

WHAT WOULD JESUS DO?
The Christian story says humanity is a good thing (created by God), spoiled (fallen into sin), and that Jesus was God the Son, who came to Earth to turn things round so Christians who follow Jesus always want to make the world a better place.
Can pupils make lists of ‘What’s wrong with the world?’ – you may want to concentrate on the current situation with the pandemic, as well as coming up with your own ideas.
I would like you to think carefully and match each ‘wrong’ with something Christians can do to follow Jesus and to make the world a better place:

WHAT WOULD JESUS DO

Thanks, Mrs Cox
