At St George’s, we believe that every child has the potential to be a leader. We provide a wide range of opportunities for pupils to develop confidence, responsibility and a strong sense of service to the school community. Through these experiences, pupils learn the importance of working collaboratively, making positive contributions and using their voices to shape the life of the school.
Pupil leadership is an important part of school life at St George’s. Our School Council gives pupils the opportunity to represent their classes, share ideas and contribute to decisions that help improve our school. The Worship Council works closely with staff to help plan and lead collective worship, encouraging reflection on our school values and supporting the spiritual life of the school.
Older pupils take on important roles in supporting others. Our Year 6 reading leaders help younger pupils develop confidence and enjoyment in reading, while our playground buddies and lunchtime helpers support younger children during playtimes, helping them feel safe, included and happy in the school environment. Our sports leaders organise and support physical activities, encouraging participation, teamwork and a love of sport.
We also value informal leadership opportunities. Pupils are encouraged to demonstrate responsibility and pride in their school, for example by welcoming visitors and confidently showing them around the school.
Through these experiences, we aim to nurture pupils who are confident, compassionate and responsible leaders, ready to contribute positively to their community both within and beyond St George’s.
