A Message From Mrs Gleeson

Dear Parents and Carers,

I have made a very difficult decision about my future and believe that now is the time to step down from my role as Head Teacher of St George’s Academy and CEO of SaGe MAT. It was my intention to take early retirement next year. However, you may be aware that I have not been in the best of health for some time so have decided to bring this forward to the end of December.

I have thoroughly enjoyed myself at St George’s, which will always have a special place in my heart. I have been at the school for 21 years, being 19 years as a Head Teacher. There have been many ‘ups and downs’ but I would not change a thing. You will be aware that I have led the school through many difficult situations including; a fire, a new build and then a further extension; change of status from a maintained school to a Voluntary Aided school, then an academy and finally a Multi Academy Trust.

I would like to thank you all for putting your faith in me and allowing me to be in such a privileged position. I have had a close relationship with many of you and I will dearly miss you all and especially your wonderful children.  St George’s has been my life!

I know that the school will continue to grow and evolve, especially after making the decision to join the Durham and Newcastle Diocesan Learning Trust.  I would like to reassure you all that this decision has my full support and I’m just sorry that I won’t be part of this partnership, as exciting times are ahead for everyone.

I wish you all the very best for the future. Your children and extended families have all been a joy to work with and definitely encompass our mission statement…’Many hearts make a school.’

Goodbye and good luck to you all.

Kind regards

Janine Gleeson
