Class 5 Election

Today we had a discussion about the General Election. The children learnt some new vocabulary and  found out that elections give people over 18, a chance to have a say in how the country is run. We found out that we live in a democracy, which means “rule by the people” and this began  with the signing of the Magna Carta.

We have decided to have a class election on matters that are important to us. We discussed important school issues and recorded our ideas on how we could improve it. We then got into groups and thought of our own party names and manifesto. Tomorrow we are going to present our manifestos in a class debate then we will all have a chance to vote!
