Maths: Please can children continue to access the Mathletics programs to complete their assigned tasks. The children are working very hard and that is showing in assembly as lots of you are receiving weekly certificates for your maths work. Well done!
English: Our topic this term is the Amazon and we have been finding out a lot of information about the river and the rainforest, as well as some of the cities close to the river basin (like Manaus). As part of our English next week, we will be looking at holiday brochures and creating our own in lesson. For homework, an the children collect and bring to school a range of holiday brochures and leaflet. If you are unable to collect anything, the children can listen to the language used on holiday adverts and use the internet to browse the holiday sites. I would like them to create a features list of the language and styles that are used when advertising these holidays – is it formal or informal? Do they use questions to entice the reader? What do they think the purpose of the brochure is for and who is the audience?
