Mindful Activities to Start Your Day – 7.5.2020

Hello St George,

Please find enclose the last three  activities that you may find useful in starting your day in a mindful way.  We hope you have enjoyed trying these activities out.

Rings of Light – Carry Courage with You

  • Sit mindfully with your spine straight and body relaxed.  Close your eyes and take three soft, slow mindful breaths.
  • Imagine a flowing white light of wisdom between your eyebrows.  Breathe out and send that light out and around you like a ring of protection.
  • Now see a red light of courage inside your throat and breathe out and send that light around you.
  • Finally see a blue light of calm inside your heart.  Send the blue light around you as third ring of protection.
  • Take a moment to feel safe inside the rings of light around you.
  • Carry that safe feeling with you into your day.

Reflection Pond – Be Still Like a Pool of Water

  • Sit mindfully with your mind straight and body relaxed.  Close your eyes and take three soft, slow breadths.
  • Imagine you are in a forest with tall trees.  You hear the birds chirping in the trees and the squirrels running across fallen leaves on the ground.
  • You are sitting in front of a small pond.  The water is still.  Look into the pond.  See the reflection of the trees in the clear water.  What else do you see?  Do you see yourself reflected in the water too?
  • Imagine dropping a pebble into the pond.  See the ripples in the water.
  • Keep watching and when the water becomes still again, open your eyes.
  • Look for still water in the pond any time you want to be calm.

Word to Yourself – Boost your Self-confidence

  • Sit mindfully with your spine straight and body relaxed.
  • Are you ever nervous about trying something new because you think you can’t do it.  Instead of worrying, close your eyes and imagine someone you love encouraging you.
  • Now talk to yourself in the same way.  Use positive words.  Tell yourself it’s okay to try many times when doing something new.
  • Think about the kind words you would say to a friend who needs your help.  Use those same words for yourself.
  • Open your eyes and smile at yourself.  You are fine just as you are!

You help yourself when you replace any unkind words in your mind with kind words.

Stay safe, well and happy. xxx
