National Smile Month

Hello St Georges,

National Smile Month runs from 18th May to 18th June, 2020

Between 18 May and 18 June, the Oral Health Foundation will be raising awareness of important health issues and ready to put a smile on everybody’s face.

How can you get involved?

Resources and Ideas from Dental Buddy

https://www.dentalhealth.org/downloads-and-resources

The Dental Buddy programme hosts a series of educational resources for Early Years’ Education, Key Stage One and Key Stage Two. These include activity sheets, lesson plans and interactive presentations. All of which are freely downloadable that can be used at home with your children.

Ultimately, the aim is to increase children’s oral health. Dental Buddy’s messages for children are simple:
·      Brush your teeth for two minutes twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste.
·      Have a balanced diet and learn the importance of cutting down on how often you have sugary foods and drinks.
·      Visit the dentist regularly, as often as they recommend.

Poem challenge
Write a poem about what a smile means to you. It can be a tale of being a top brusher, or a journey about how a simple smile makes you feel.  You can write about teeth, gums, flossing, sugar, visiting the dentist, happiness or friendship.  It’s entirely up to you.

We’re looking for poems that move, excite, amuse, and inspire us. And most importantly, poems that make us smile.

Singalong challenge
If you love to sing, we’ve got a great challenge for you! This is a chance for you to show off your vocal chords, have some fun, and most importantly, make people smile.  Blast out some of your favourite songs.

There’s just one rule………the song must have the word smile in the title. You can take the spotlight as a solo artist, or share it with your household. We want to see social media filled with people singing in the name of National Smile Month.

How to take part
Post it to social media. You could even post a video of yourself reciting the poem. Include #SmileMonth #CDDFTOralHealthPromotion @CDDFTOralHealth #TeamCDDFT into your post so we can share your poem with thousands of others. In your post, challenge three friends to take on the challenge and submit their own poems.

Oral health podcasts released weekly
The mini-series consists of three podcasts that delve into different hot topics in the
world of oral health:
