PSHE Parental Consultation

New Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) including Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) and Health Education Curriculum for Parents’ Consultation

As a school, we are underway with a full curriculum review, which includes taking a close look at provision for Personal, Social, Health and Emotional (PSHE) education. From September 2020, the government have defined Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) and Health Education as a compulsory feature of all primary school curriculums.

For St George’s Church of England Academy, relationships and health education has always formed part of our PSHE curriculum, so this is nothing new. However, we feel it is important that when there are changes in our PSHE curriculum, we engage and inform parents of what these changes consist of and to this end we will begin a period of consultation with parents. This will be characterised by information sharing, with opportunities to comment on policy and practice in relation to RSE and to learn more about the materials the school will use to deliver the RSE strand of PSHE.

This consultation will begin with our new PSHE curriculum. This has been developed in line with the PSHE Association and government requirements. Unfortunately, due to COVID- 19 we are unable to invite you into school for an open evening to discuss these changes. Therefore, we will be making these available on the school website from now until the end of June for parents to read and review. We ask you to send any comments on the policy to marked with the subject ‘RSE Consultation’. The window for consultation will close on Tuesday 30th June, 2020. We look forward to hearing your comments and addressing any queries you wish to raise.

Thank you

Mrs Gleeson.
