Tees Valley Finals Football – Runners Up

After winning the Darlington Town Cup a couple of weeks ago, St George’s Y5/6 Football team today travelled to Stockton Town FC to compete in the Tees Valley Finals. The boys were up against some tough competition from all over the Tees Valley and there were 8 teams who had all won their respective town competitions. The format was a round robin, playing a total of 7 games and playing each team once to decide the eventual winners. There were 5 points awarded for a win, 3 points for a score draw, 2 points for a 0-0 draw and 1 point for a loss. The boys were magnificent all day, playing some great football. Throughout the day they won 3 games, drew 3 games and lost 1 game, ending with a total of 22 points. This was enough to secure second place in the competition and come home with the silver medals. The goals scored today came from Max B and Ethan W, with Reece D and Jack R keeping 5 clean sheets between them in goal throughout the event. A massive well done to all the boys, who have done extremely well to get this far and did the school and themselves proud. It was a pleasure taking them and I hope they all enjoyed their day.

Kind regards

Mr Mackenzie
