World Book Day – Thursday 3rd March 2022

World Book Day

3rd March 2022

We are once again looking forward to celebrating World Book Day on 3rd March. We have a variety of activities on offer for your child to help promote our love of reading and these activities vary from year group to year group. See examples below.

Your child may come to school dressed as a character from a book they have chosen. (Please note that home- made costumes are fine and please do not feel under any pressure to buy outfits)

Key Stage 1  (Years 1 and 2)

Year 1 will be looking at Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes and taking part in various activities linked to the poems.

Year 2 will be looking at The Owl and the Pussycat by Edward Lear and taking part in various activities linked to the poem.

Lower Key Stage 2 (Years 3 and 4)

In Year 3, the focus is on the Mr Men themed books by Roger Hargreaves and the children will be taking part in various activities linked to these books and will participate in a lower Key Stage 2 quiz.

In Year 4, the focus will be around the Dr Suess book, The Cat in the Hat. The children will again be taking part in various activities linked to the story and also can participate in the lower Key Stage 2 quiz.

Upper Key Stage 2 (Years 5 and 6)

A variety of activities is planned, including guest readers coming in to school to read to classes, a range of creative art and design activities and also a carousel of activities linked to favourite books and characters.

Many thanks
