Yoga – Activities of the day – 7.5.2020
Good Morning St George’s,
Please find below our Yoga Activities for the day. We hope you enjoy trying these exercises out.
Back Writing (Benefits – Calm, Connect and Focus)
Back writing required a child’s full attention. It is engaging for children and it feels good too. It can serve as a wonderful transition to a yoga session that promotes calm, positive touch and a bit of fun.
What to do:
- Sit down in front of your partner and get comfortable.
- Your partner will use their finger to write or draw something on your back What did your partner write/draw?
- Now switch so you’re writing or drawing. Start by writing letters or simple shapes. You can try writing full words or even sentences after you and your partner have practiced a bit?
Candle Gazing (Benefits – Calm and Focus)
This sight mediation will help children to focus their attention while also calming and centring their energy. Use your best judgement as to whether your child should be around a real flame or a colour-changing LED tea light/pillar candle which are just as effective.
What to do:
- Light a candle (or turn the LED tea light or pillar candle.) Place it on the floor in front of you.
- Find a comfortable position.
- Focus on the candle flame while practicing Balloon Breathing.
- Hold your gaze on the candle for longer periods of time with each session. You might begin with 20 seconds and work up to 2 minutes or more.
Stay safe and well. xxx
