Hello St Georges,

Please find below some new Yoga poses you may want to try out.

Plank (Benefits: Strengthen)

Plank helps strengthen the arms. shoulders, wrists, legs and core muscles.  It also required lengthening the spine which encourages good posture.

What to do:

  • Begin in Table Pose.
  • Move your hands and body forward a bit and lift your head and chest.
  • Curl your toes under and lift your knees off the floor.  Keep your neck long as you find a focus point on the floor in front of you.  Lengthen your body into a long, strong plank.
  • Breathe in and out for three to five breaths, and then return to your Table Pose.
  • Rest in child’s pose for a few breadths.

Puppy Friends (Benefits:  Connect and Stretch)

This partner activity enhances connection and is a great opportunity to stretch the upper back and hamstrings, especially beneficial after long periods of sitting.

What to do:

  • Face your partner and place your hands on each other’s shoulders.
  • Take a step back and bend forward at the hips so that your heads come down to relax between your arms.  Your legs and arms should be straight.
  • Relax your head and neck and push your hips back to keep your back flat.  If either of you feel a strain in your lower back, bend your knees slightly.
  • Breathe in and out together three times.  Release into the stretch a little more with each exhale.
  • To safely come out of the pose, lift your gaze to lookup at your partner before standing up.

Enjoy.  Stay well and safe. xxx
