Yoga Poses – 15.5.2020

Hello St Georges,

Please find two more Yoga Poses.  We enjoy trying these out.

Happy Baby (Benefits – Restore, Strengthen, Stretch)

Happy Baby pose stretches and opens the hips, ham string, glutes and groin whilst also soothing the lower back.

What to do:

  • Lie down on your back.
  • Wrap your first two fingers around your big toes and grasp the outside of your feet.
  • Pull your feet back so that your knees come in towards your armpits.
  • Try stretching out one leg and then the other leg.

Human Zipper (Benefits – Calm, Connect and Restore)

This partner or group activity promotes connectedness and teamwork and brings awareness to the breath. With a group, one person lies down and the next person lies down so that his head rests on the first person’s tummy.  The third person lies down so that their head rests on the second person’s tummy and so on, until you are all lying down in a zig zag path.

What to do:

  • Lie down and rest your head on your partner’s tummy.
  • Close your eyes, relax and breathe together.  Try to match your breathing, inhaling as your partner’s tummy rises, exhaling as their tummy falls.
  • After one minute, switch so that your partner’s head is on your tummy.  And breathe.

Enjoy. Stay safe and well.  xx
